Telehealth Services Policy

A Chosen Path Counseling & Consulting Services offers telehealth services to increase access to mental health care through secure, remote communication technology.
What Is Telehealth?

Telehealth involves providing therapy and counseling services via secure video, phone, or digital platforms rather than in person.

Benefits of Telehealth
  • Increased access to care

  • Greater convenience and flexibility

  • Ability to receive services from a private location

Potential Risks
  • Technology failures or interruptions

  • Privacy risks if sessions are conducted in non-secure environments

  • Limited ability to respond to emergencies remotely

Confientiality

Telehealth sessions are conducted using platforms designed to protect privacy. However, clients are responsible for:

  • Ensuring they are in a private, quiet location

  • Using secure internet connections

  • Avoiding public or shared devices when possible

Client Responsibilities

By participating in telehealth services, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate contact and emergency information

  • Notify your provider if you experience technical difficulties

  • Understand that sessions may need to be rescheduled if technology issues prevent effective communication

Emergency & Crisis Situations

Telehealth is not appropriate for emergency situations.
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency:

  • Call 911

  • Visit the nearest emergency room

  • Contact your local crisis hotline

Clients must disclose their physical location at the start of each telehealth session in case emergency services need to be contacted.

Consent

By scheduling and participating in telehealth services, you acknowledge:

  • Understanding the benefits and risks of telehealth

  • Consent to receiving mental health services via telehealth

  • That you may withdraw consent for telehealth services at any time

Telehealth Eligibility

Telehealth services are subject to state laws and licensing requirements. Services may only be provided when both client and provider are physically located in jurisdictions where the provider is licensed.
